Rebecca King-CrewThomas William Selleck is an American actor. His most well-known role was Thomas Magnum, a private investigator in Magnum, P.I. (1980-1988), for which the actor received five Emmy Award nominations for Outstanding Lead Actor in the Drama Series with the winner being announced in 1985. In the television series Blue Bloods, Selleck has been a part of the character Frank Reagan, New York City Police Commissioner. In 2005 his role was as the troubled police chief of a small town Jesse Stone in nine television films that were based on the Robert B. Parker novels.In films, Selleck has played bachelor architect Peter Mitchell in Three Men and a Baby (1987) and its sequel Three Men and a Little Lady (1990). He has also been seen in more than 50 other films and TV parts since Magnum, P.I., including the films Quigley Down Under, Mr. Baseball and Lassiter. He played the frequent television part of Monica Geller's love-interests Dr. Richard Burke and Lance White on Friends. Also, he was A.J. Cooper on Las Vegas. He also had a lead role in the television western film The Sacketts, based on two of Louis L'Amour's books.Selleck is a California Army National Guard veteran as well as a spokesperson for the National Rifle Association (NRA) and an endorser for advertisements for National Review magazine, and co-founder of the Character Counts! organization.
